However, structural engineering is every bit as important as architecture and construction because it is structural engineering that allows them to exist in the first place. No matter how beautiful a building or how efficiently it is built, if it is not structurally sound it will be subject to catastrophic failure. Structural engineering makes the world we live in safe and functional.
